Using the SIP Protocol with Transcom VOIP
We recommend accessing the Transcom VOIP switch using the SIP, or IAX2 protocols and this section explains how to access Transcom VOIP switch using a SIP compliant device. If you do not yet have a VoIP gateway, please see our recommendations on supported hardware solutions.
The configuration of your device depends on whether you have a fixed or dynamic IP address.
Fixed IP Address
- Make sure the IP address you use has been added to your Transcom calling account. If you did not add this address while setting up your account, then add this IP address in your online account management system.
- Configure your equipment to send all telephone calls to our SIP server at sip.transcom.net
Dynamic IP Address
- Make sure that your Transcom VOIP switch account has been configured for dynamic IP addresses. If you did not do this while setting up your account, then set this option now in your online account management system.
- Configure your equipment to register with our SIP server at sip.Transcom.net Our server supports Digest authentication. You should configure your device using your given number and password.
The codecs we support are G.711, G.729 and GSM
You should configure your equipment to send DTMF digits using INFO method SIP messages.
